![]() Once through the security lines, make sure you grab everything that you took out to get scanned. Again, don’t feel like you need to get this done. You can keep all your electronics and liquids in your bag, your shoes stay on and it’s a much easier process. In the TSA Precheck line, it’s less work. The airports that I’ve been to, have a specific part on the water fountains for that very need. We always try to bring an empty bottle that we can fill up with water on the other side of security. Remember that you can’t go through security with a full or partially full water bottle. If you are in the regular security lines, you have to be ready to remove your shoes, belt, anything in your pockets, your computer or other electronics, like your cell phone and your liquids (that can only be a certain size and must be in a plastic bag). ![]() But it’s okay if you don’t sign up for that, because if you do, then those lines get longer for me. We have decided way ahead of time to pay for the TSA Precheck because those lines aren’t nearly as long as the regular lines. Head through security with your ID and boarding pass and wait in line. Find your flight and see what gate it departs from. You find a screen with departure information. If you have your boarding pass on your phone and are not checking any bags, then it’s pretty simple. There are usually many friendly people waiting to help you. They usually have bright, colorful signs. When you walk into the airport, you just need to look for your airline counters. This is actually the reason they invented cameras on cell phones. A good idea is to take a picture of the floor, zone, row and/or space where you left your vehicle. When you park your vehicle, pay attention. Or, the parkade, as we call it in Canada. Info to have before you get there What airline are you flying? What time do you board? What is your flight number? What are their policies for luggage? What is acceptable to carry on in your luggage? What do you do when you’re not a seasoned traveler and you find yourself at an airport all by yourself? Be prepared. After taking The Kids to the airport last week for a flight that they were going on by themselves, The Girl mentioned that I should write a “how-to” on finding your way around an airport.
